For the next two weeks, we’re going to be doing a countdown to winter break with the help of these cute Days of the Week bags I found in the dollar bins at Michael’s Arts and Crafts! I know these bags will be a HUGE motivator in my class during this last stretch before relaxation time begins!
Here’s how it will work: If we have a super day, I’ll pick one lucky friend to open that day’s bag. Each bag has something different inside. Some of the bags have little gift certificates, like “No Homework!” and “Lunch Bunch” while other bags have fun goodies inside. You can grab the gift certificates HERE for free.

This is Tuesday’s bag. It has cute pencils and erasers inside (which my kids LOVE).
And on Thursday, they’ll open the bag to find these awesome mini-kaleidoscopes I found these at Michael’s too.
We’re also starting our Holidays Around the World unit this week. Here’s a collection of the books we’ll be using. Many of these can be found out the public library! If you missed the original post all about my unit, click HERE.
It’s been snowing on and off all day…it’s SO beautiful! I’m about to cozy up with a cup of hot tea and read my HGTV magazine. Enjoy your evening, friends!

December 10, 2013This is my 11th year of teaching first grade, and I have never thought of this, but when I read your post on Sunday, I had to try it. Best of all, I already had enough materials on hand for most of the ten days (homework passes, pencils, erasers, gum, etc…). The kids loved it today, and I can't wait to use it for the next nine days. Thanks for posting this awesome idea!

November 16, 2017These all look like such wonderful book and I love the idea of doing Holidays around the World. I am having trouble reading come of the titles and authors. Would you mind letting me know who the author of “Christmas” and ” Chinese New Year” is?
Thanks!
