Let’s Talk Turkey!

Who is ready for pumpkin pie and turkey? I know I am! To get everyone in the holiday spirit, I’ll be adding some November/Thanksgiving themed activities to our plans over the next couple weeks. I can’t wait to bring out these “Let’s Talk Turkey” non-fiction mini-books. I prepped these today and they are SO, SO cute! My kids will love learning real facts about turkeys.

We’ll be using some of these graphic organizers to help us write down facts as we read. image image image

After reading all about turkeys, we’ll be doing this true/false sorting activity. image

After reading all about turkeys, I’ll be giving some of my students this independent practice sheet as a quick assessment of their understanding of the text.

At Word Work, my kiddos will be “feasting on words” with these word building activities. image

At Work on Writing, we’ll be writing an acrostic poem all about turkeys! image

My kiddos desperately need some extra practice with writing complete sentences! For this “Pilgrammar Practice” activity, students read the sentence and then re-write it using correct capitalization and punctuation. image

And, of course, we’ll be doing some Thanksgiving/November themed Draw and Writes! image

We’ll also be writing about our Thanksgiving feasts with these mini-books! image

Last month my kids really enjoyed making inferences when they completed the “Boo! Guess Who?” activities I made. I brought these back this month, but now they have a Thanksgiving theme. I know my students will eat these up! image

And, of course, we can’t forget to stuff our turkeys with thankful thoughts! We’ll be doing these simple, but SUPER cute, crafts this week. These are going to look precious on display!
